Uscape Apparel: Design to Workflow Creation and Project Manager

I got hired at Uscape Apparel, an international lifestyle apparel company, to alleviate the strain on it's current design team designing, submitting to licensing, editing, and exporting over 1500 SKU's. It started off as a designer for the company, but I realized from the initial project and my past experience at LADM, that there could be more systems in place to improve the efficiency of large scale projects.

My strategy?

I helped implement design templates, collaborated with an offsite licensing team to develop an online communication portal between teams, learned how to use actions and small apps to automate mockups creation, naming, and exporting. It allowed the company to take on a larger order count for the next season, decreased licensing time, and shortened the entire project time by 50%. Furthermore, it allowed me more time to commit to other projects like trend forcasting, becoming a product photographer, help manage the design team as a whole.

What I learned?

Design is more than just the visuals, it's imagining new ways to create through constraints not just visually but systematically. It's an ethos that surpasses a singular role and can be applied to all aspects of the business.
